What Is Women’s History Month?

Women’s History Month remembers and encourages the study, observance, and celebration of important women in American history. It serves to remind us of the accomplishments of women throughout the years to culture and society.

Why Is It Important?

Women’s History Month educates youth on the important role women have played - and continue to play - in advancing the sciences, arts, math, law, education, arts, and more. For girls, knowing women’s achievements expands their definition of what is possible. Knowledge of women’s strengths and contributions builds respect and nurtures self-esteem, as well as advocates for gender parity in society.
